House Bill 133: An Act Requiring Driver’s Education

Author:
Representative Rita Martinson

Summary:
Among other things, this bill would require that all persons under 18 complete a driver’s education course before being issued a license. Public schools must provide the training, but it appears to be limited to students enrolled in public school. This bill should be amended to provide access to driver’s education for homeschool students, either at public school or through parent-taught driver’s education.

Status:
1/6/2009(House) Referred to Transportation
2/3/2009(House) Died In Committee

HSLDA’s Position:
This bill should be opposed in its current form.

Action Requested:
None at this time.
