Senate Bill 2952: An Act Regarding Kindergarten Enrollment

Summary:

This bill would have opened public school doors to children who reach age 5 by January 1 of a school year. Current law permits enrollment if the child is 5 by September 1. While this proposed change would have permitted, not required, earlier enrollment, such an expansion in public school enrollment could easily change from voluntary to mandatory. HSLDA opposed this bill.
