Senate Bill 2952: An Act Regarding Kindergarten Enrollment

Author:
Senator Chaney

Summary:

This bill would have opened public school doors to children who reach age 5 by January 1 of a school year. Current law permits enrollment if the child is 5 by September 1. While this proposed change would have permitted, not required, earlier enrollment, such an expansion in public school enrollment could easily change from voluntary to mandatory.
