Senate Bill 2516: Change in Compulsory Attendance Requirement
Senator Gray Tollison (District 9)
This bill is the same as HB 482 and HB 596 which would have taken away from parents the right to decide when a 5-year-old child is ready for school. Current law allows a parent to withdraw a 5-year-old from kindergarten and not be subject to the compulsory attendance law until age 6.
