Representatives Lynn Wardlow, Sandra Peterson, Carlos Mariani, Dean Urdahl, Bud Heidgerken, Nora Slawik, Denise Dittrich, Maria Ruud, and Marsha Swails
House File 4053 provides that any child under age 7 who is enrolled in first or a higher grade in public school is subject to the compulsory school attendance laws. If passed, this bill would change the current law, which provides that students under age 7 who are enrolled in public kindergarten or higher are subject to compulsory school attendance laws.
