Sponsors:
Representatives Nora Slawik, Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Sandra Peterson, Lynn Wardlow, David Bly, and Leon Lillie
Summary:
House File 3464 provides funding to school districts and child care and preschool programs for universal preschool programs for 4-year-olds.
Status:
| 2/25/2008 | | (Senate) Introduced |
| 2/25/2008 | | (Senate) Referred to E-12 Education |
HSLDA’s Position:
Oppose. While House File 3464 does not require participation in Minnesota’s universal preschool programs, bills like this are often a state’s first step toward lowering the compulsory school attendance age. HSLDA opposes expanding compulsory school attendance ages because doing so infringes upon parents’ freedom to make educational decisions for their children.
Action Requested:
None.
