Sponsors:
Representatives Nora Slawik, Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Sandra Peterson, Lynn Wardlow, David Bly, and Linda Slocum
Summary:
House File 3463 establishes state-funded pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk 3- and 4-year-old children.
Status:
| 2/25/2008 | | (Senate) Introduced |
| 2/25/2008 | | (Senate) Referred to E-12 Education |
HSLDA’s Position:
Oppose. While House File 3463 does not require participation in this program, bills like this are often a state’s first step toward lowering the compulsory school attendance age. HSLDA opposes expanding compulsory school attendance ages because doing so infringes upon parents’ freedom to make educational decisions for their children.
Action Requested:
None.
