Senate Bill 584: Income Tax Credit for School Tuition Organization Contributions

Sponsors:
Senators Olson, Kierlin, and Neuville.

Summary:
This bill would redefine the type of school that is eligible to receive funds from school tuition organizations. This change would allow homeschools to participate.

Status:
01/31/2005Introduction and first reading
01/31/2005Referred to Taxes

Action Requested:
None at this time. The Minnesota legislature is now closed, and this bill did not pass.

HSLDA's Position:
Support. A number of states have tax deductions for businesses that donate to private school scholarship funds, and this bill would allow homeschools to receive those funds subject to the same rules.
