House Bill 1055: Changes Law Requiring Marriage Between a ‘Man and a Woman’

Summary:
Currently, Maryland law provides that “only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid in this State.” This bill would change the law to state “Only a marriage between two individuals who are not otherwise prohibited from marrying is valid in this State.”

2/13/2009 (House) First Reading Judiciary; hearing 3/12 at 1:00 p.m.

The legislature has adjourned without passing this bill; it is now dead.
