House Bill 4611: Changes to CHINS Petition Procedure
Sponsor:
Joint Committee on Children and Families
Summary:
House Bill 4611 establishes a community-based services program for children in need of services (CHINS) and replaces the current CHINS petition procedure. The new procedure requires school districts to attempt to remedy truancy issues without court involvement. If a district chooses to file a CHINS petition, it must prove to the court that it first employed non-judicial methods.
This is a companion to Senate Bill 2570.
