House Bill 416: Truancy Penalty Increase

Summary:
Currently, a parent may be fined no more than 20 dollars if his or her child misses seven full or 14 half days of school within six months. House Bill 416 would increase the maximum penalty to $1,000 and imprisonment of up to 30 days.
