House Bill 935: Subsidizing Grandparents' Attacks on Families

Sponsor:
Representative Sharon Weston Broome (D), District 29.

Summary:
This bill subsidizes grandparents who go to court to take custody away from their own children.

Status:
03/26/2003 Prefiled.
03/27/2003 Assigned to House Judiciary Committee.
04/15/2003 Considered in committee. No action taken.
06/23/2003 The 2003 Regular Session of the legislature adjourned. Thankfully, HB 935 is dead.

Action Requested:
None.

HSLDA's Position:
Oppose. While we agree that grandparents need help in maintaining relationships with grandchildren who have been separated from their extended family by divorce, this bill would have subsidized grandparents who attack their own children.
