House Joint Resolution 3: Amendment Supporting Traditional Marriage Author: Summary: The Senate Judiciary Committee has voted a number of times to approve the bill. However, as the amendment came to the full Senate, leaders refused to allow the resolution to come to a vote. However, during the first special legislative session his amendment has been introduced once more as H.J.R. 3. The proposed amendment states: “(a) Marriage in Indiana consists only of the union of one man and one woman. Status:
HSLDA's Position: Action Requested: Background: Amending the Indiana Constitution will protect marriage from activist state judges. Without this amendment, an activist judge, out of step with the citizens, could one day redefine marriage for everyone. |
