House Bill 1118: Amends Grandparent Visitation Law
Author:
Representative Cherry
Summary:
Currently, grandparents are allowed visitation rights for specifically mentioned reasons. This bill would have expanded grandparent visitation rights by allowing grandparents to gain visitation rights for reasons other than the ones specifically mentioned in the statute. Giving grandparents visitation rights in opposition to the parents.
This bill did not pass to the other chamber by the "crossover" date. Therefore, the bill is effectively dead for the session. The only way to revive this bill is to amend the language of the bill into another bill that has crossed over. However, this scenario is unlikely because this bill, and a similar bill in the other chamber, did not even receive a committee hearing.
