House Bill 1786: Requiring Approval to Withdraw from Public School
Representative Winfield C. Moses, Jr.
Representative Dennis Kruse
This bill would prohibit any student from withdrawing from public school while a legal action for truancy is pending, until the action is resolved and the student complies with terms and conditions of attendance the public school establishes. Exception: the student may withdraw if the public school agrees that it is in the best interest of the child and "a verifiable educational experience is provided that is acceptable" to the public school.
This bill is now dead as the legislature has adjourned for the year.
