House Bill 262: Drug Testing for License

Summary:
This bill would require any applicant for an instruction permit who is under the age of 18 to undergo testing for controlled substances and cannabis and must be found to be free of controlled substances and cannabis before he or she may receive an instruction permit.

In the House Drivers Education and Safety Committee, the bill was amended to provide that the tests may only be random, but that should someone test positive to having controlled substances and cannabis, the permit may not be issued.
