House Resolution 41: Supports Parental Rights
Authors:
Representatives, Mizuno, Brower, Magaoay
Summary:
House Resolution 41 has been introduced to recognize and promote parental rights in Hawaii. In this resolution the Legislature “recognizes and supports the traditional and constitutionally protected right of parents to make decisions relating to the care, custody, and control of their children and further recognizes that governmental interference with parental rights is permissible only to prevent injury or potential injury to a child.”
Furthermore, this concurrent resolution will be sent in the form of a certified copy to the Hawaii governor, attorney general, chairperson of the Board of Education, superintendent of education, director of health, director of Human Services, and director of Public Safety.
With this recognition of parental rights, the Hawaii Legislature would reflect the attitude of their support to insure and promote the continuing freedom of parents to make all decisions, including educational, for their children.
