Senate Bill 392: New Enrollment Verification Requirement for Employment of a Minor
Author:
Senator Preston Smith (District 52)
Summary:
Among other things, this bill would have required a letter from a minor's "school administrator" indicating that the minor is enrolled in school full-time and has a good attendance record before the minor could be employed. This would continue until the minor becomes 18 or completes school. No provision was made for students in a home study program. Also, this was a back door approach to raising the compulsory attendance age of students who want to work while in school.
