House Bill 5787: Increased Penalty for Truancy
Rep. Heagney (16th District)
This bill would have permitted towns to adopt ordinances increasing the penalty for truancy from a fine of $20 to $100.
This bill was introduced on January 22, and is currently in the Joint Committee on Education.
This bill has died since the Connecticut General Assembly Adjourned on June 4, 2003.
HSLDA opposes any legislation to increase the penalty for truancy which may be used to intimidate bona fide homeschoolers.
