Assembly Bill 755: Anti-corporal Punishment Bill

Summary:
This proposed bill would create a rebutable presumption that the use of an implement for spanking is a crime, punishable with a fine and/or up to a year in jail.

4/23/2007From committee: Amend, do pass as amended, and re-refer to committee.
10/26/2007Failed to pass out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee. This is a 2-year bill that will be reconsidered in the next legislative session.
1/22/2008Deadline for passage in Assembly Appropriations Committee is January 25 or the bill dies in Committee.
1/29/2008Bill failed to pass out of the Appropriations Committee by the January 25 deadline. A.B. 755 is dead and no longer a threat.

Action Requested:
Call your State Assembly Member and State Senator as soon as possible. Ask them to: “Please oppose A.B. 755 (by Lieber) by letting it die in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
