Senate Bill 360: An Act Mandating Nonpublic School Graduation Testing

Senators Singleton, Ross, and McClain

Summary:
This bill would have required all nonpublic school students to take and pass a high school graduation exam prior to graduation. This would include church school students who are taught at home by their parents in a home instruction program. It would also probably include students taught by private tutors. HSLDA opposed this bill.

Status:
1/26/2006Introduced, first reading, and referred to the Education Committee and the Committee on Finance and Taxation
4/23/2006 Bill died when Legislature adjourned

HSLDA's Position:
HSLDA opposed this legislation.
