Official purpose: Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the Senate should ratify the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

Bill Summary and Status

HSLDA's Position:
A House Resolution is an opinion expressed by the US House of Representatives that does not have the force of law, but provides the opportunity for members of Congress to show their support of the issue by cosponsoring. HSLDA opposes the CEDAW treaty for numerous reasons including that this treaty wrongly advances the government into the most private of family and education decisions. For more information see the Other Resources section below. HSLDA's National Center for Home Education has already taken steps to insure CEDAW is not ratified in the 108th Congress.
