Leicester Public Schools v. Mrs L
School files truancy charges for homeschooling

Filed: December 16, 2005.

Nature of Case: After her son experienced difficulty in public school this year, Mrs. L withdrew him to begin homeschooling. However, the School District took a long time to review her notice of intent, and before it approved her program, the elementary school Gabriel had been attending filed truancy charges against him.

Status: HSLDA's local counsel contacted the superintendent's office and fast-tracked the approval process, successfully getting the charges dismissed without Mrs. L ever having to appear in court.
