Congratulations to all the winners and finalists! You deserve to be proud of the work you submitted and honored for the excellence your work demonstrates for homeschooling.

The original artwork is currently on display at the HSLDA office in Purcellville, Virginia, to the great satisfaction of all visitors and staff.

Next year’s contest will open December 1, 2014, and themes and guidelines will be available online starting in November.

This year’s theme asked students to investigate the special richness only attainable through the interaction of the arts, looking at how poetry, music, and art can work in harmony to enrich expression. Students listened to a designated classic hymn and let its lines and musicality inspire them. The images below are the fruit of their vivid imagination and unique creativity.

Category 1 (ages 7–10*): Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee by Henry van Dyke
Category 2 (ages 11–14*): Be Thou My Vision trans. by Mary E. Byrne
